Is there a suggested period for re-gassing my air conditioning?

We do recommend at least annual air-conditioning system checkups and these should be done in the spring. (F Gas legislation requires an annual leak test on any piece of equipment with more than 3KG of refrigerant within the system). By undertaking this programme of maintenance, you will minimise the risk of expensive repairs later on. Also, the main advantage is that your system should function efficiently during the summer months.

My office seems to get stuffy and people are saying they are getting ill due to this. Why is this and what can be done?

This would probably be due to a lack of air changes for supply and extracted air within your building or office. This could make your staff possibly feel lethargic and tired and can also add to the spread of illnesses like the flu and colds. We would recommend a free survey to look at what can be done to improve the situation and possibly staff performance and wellbeing, through new or improved ventilation and extraction systems.

Our office staff complain that germs are being spread around the office by the ventilation system. How do we fix this?

This could be due to lack of servicing of the ventilation system or the filters need changing to a higher grade HEPA filter, if the system will allow this, and the ductwork and the fans/Air Handling Units (AHU) could need a full deep clean. Again let us come to your site to look at what needs to be done to rectify the situation and get your staff feeling better and confident in the equipment.

Does my heat pump boiler need to be serviced as the fuel bills are getting higher?

Yes. If the system is not kept clean and efficient, it will cost more to run and also this will wear out faster meaning the cost of repairs will increase as it gets older. Let us give the system a deep clean, as the heat exchangers take a lot of abuse all through the year and the whole system needs to be kept clean and serviced to realise the cost savings you were sold to make you change in the first place. Get in touch to book a heat pump boiler service.

Do I really need to have my unit serviced?

Absolutely, this is vital in ensuring your units continue to operate at their maximum efficiency and reduces the risk of breakdown and therefore cost. Depending on your specific heating or cooling solution, the units must be maintained to ensure the warranty remains valid – if regular maintenance is not completed as per the specific manufacturers recommendations, then the valuable manufacturer’s warranty will be void.

There is very little air flow coming out of the unit, what is wrong?

Well this is usually due to blocked filters and or a blocked coil, so the end result is a lack of air flow across the coil (heat exchanger) and this will mean a lack of cooling or heating, the only way to sort this out is a filter wash and a possible coil clean and an fan impeller inspection for blocked blades. Call us to stop this from happening in the first place as maintenance is more cost effective than after the event repair.

Why is water leaking out of my unit and if I turn it off it doesn't stop?

Well this will probably be a blocked condensate tray or pipe or a failed pump. This is probably one of the most common issues in the summer, and this is nearly always due to a lack of servicing so give us a call before you get the water leak in the first place and keep the unit running trouble free.

Why does my unit smell musty when cooling?

This is bacteria growing on the coil, filters or the condensate tray were the system is not serviced and cleaned properly. The coil will require a chemical clean with a specialist cleaner to naturalise the bacteria, but once this has started it is very difficult to remove completely, so call us and get your units serviced to prevent this from happening in the first place, prevention is better than cure always and often cheaper.

My units seem to be working harder and costing more to run why?

If your units are costing more to run, it's likely due to a lack of servicing and a mixture of the reasons above. This will increase the wear to the units and shorten the life span of your system which could lead to expensive bills as well as downtime of your system. A well-maintained system could reduce running costs by up to 15% as well as lower your carbon footprint and help maintain the correct temperature in your business to keep customers and staff happy.

So what’s not to like about the benefits of maintenance (PPM)?

Lower running costs for you now and a happier environment for future generations. The systems heat and cool efficiently and so keeping your valuable staff and customers happy. Less down time due to breakdowns with expensive parts, so in the long run it is cheaper in so many ways. The systems last much longer and that investment in equipment pays off in happy customers or staff. So give us a call and let us keep that expensive AC kit running efficiently and let it do what it supposed to do effectively, and let us take care of the hassle for you after all that’s what were here for.
